Martin Rane Bauck

Martin Rane Bauck (b. 1988 in Oslo, Norway) has a bachelor degree in composition from the Norwegian Academy of Music (NMH), studying with the professors Bjørn Kruse, Peter Tornquist and Asbjørn Schaathun from 2008 to 2012, including a year as an exchange student (2010-11) with professor Gérard Pesson at the Paris Conservatory (CNSMDP). Bauck usually writes acoustic chamber music, being interested in timbre, reduction, improvisation, poetry and the dialogue with history in general and music history in particular, but he also writes orchestral pieces, dance music etc. His music has been performed in the Nordic countries, Poland and France, and the list of performers include Oslo Sinfonietta (NO), Le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (CA), Scenatet (DK), Quatuor Bozzini (CA) and the Stenhammar Quartet (SE). In 2010 he took the initiative and co-founded the new music ensemble Aksiom with two other composers and nine performers, allowing a close and fruitful collaboration with the musicians. Bauck has also been active in the Norwegian music life by participating in numerous boards, such as the ones of the Norwegian Academy of Music, Ny Musikk (Norwegian department of ISCM) and the Young Nordic Music Festival (UNM).
