Juan de Dios Magdaleno Gómez

Juan de Dios Magdaleno est né au Mexique en 1984, et c'est à l'âge de douze ans qu'il découvre la musique à travers son héritage folklorique. A quinze ans, il étudie le violon avec avec Tatiana Zatina puis s'intéresse à la composition en assistant aux ateliers d'Anatoly Zatin, avec lequel il étudie de 2001 à 2003. Son oeuvre pour quatuor à cordes et clarinette, Nocturno, a remporté le premier prix du Concours national de composition des jeunes artistes organisé par le Conservatoire de Morelia et le Ministère de la Culture. Juan de Dios a participé à de nombreux ateliers et conférences, notamment avec Helmut Lachenmann, Tristan Murail, James Dillon et Salvatore Sciarrino. Depuis 2005, il étudie la composition au Conservatoire d'Amsterdam sous la direction de Fabio Nieder et Richard Aryes. Juan de Dios Magdaleno was born in Colima, Mexico in 1984. Since the age of 12. Juan has been active in music, initially through his Mexican folk heritage. Later on, when he was 15, he began his formal education and studied violin with Tatiana Zatina in the Instituto Universitario de Bellas Artes of the University of Colima, where he graduated in 2003. During this period he got in touch with composition, assisting workshops by Anatoly Zatin, with whom he studied from 2001 until 2003. His work Nocturno for string quartet and clarinet won the 1st Youth National Composition Competition held by the Conservatory of Morelia and the Ministery of Culture, Nocturno was premiered by the Ossia Ensemble (Rochester, N.Y.). Throughout his musical Juan has taken part in composition workshops and lectures with Helmut Lachenmann, Tristan Murail, Victor Rasgado, Julio Estrada, James Dillon, Salvatore Sciarrino, Mario Lavista, Marco Stroppa, among others. Juan de Dios studies since 2005 composition at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under the tution of Fabio Nieder and Richard Aryes.
