Charles-Antoine Fréchette

Charles-Antoine Fréchette a étudié la composition avec Michel Gonneville et l’analyse avec Serge Provost au Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. Il poursuit actuellement un doctorat en composition à l’Université McGill avec Sean Ferguson et étudie au Centre de recherche CIRMMT. Co-fondateur et co-directeur artistique de l’Ensemble Chorum, il a remporté un 1er prix de composition dans la catégorie piano solo au Concours National des Jeunes Compositeurs de CBC/Radio-Canada (2003), et de nombreux prix au Concours de la Socan. Boursier du CAC, du CALQ et du CIRMMT, il a reçu en 2006 une commande de Radio-Canada. Ses pièces ont été jouées par Alain Trudel, Louise-Andrée Baril, Véronique Lacroix, Sylvio Gualda, l’ECM+, la société New Music Concerts, l’Orchestre National de Lorraine et l’Orchestre Symphonique de Laval. Afin de participer au stage d’Acanthes 2010, Charles-Antoine a reçu une bourse de voyage du Conseil des Arts du Canada et du centre de recherche CIRMMT . Charles-Antoine Fréchette studied composition with Michel Gonneville and musical analysis with Serge Provost at the Conservatoire de Musique de Montréal. He is now pursuing his doctoral research at McGill University with Sean Ferguson and is a student member of CIRMMT. Also the co-founder and co-artistic director of the Chorum Ensemble, he won a 1st prize in the CBC National Young Composers Competition (2003) in the piano solo category and numerous prizes in the Socan Student Composers Awards. He has received grants from the CAC, the CALQ and CIRMMT and a commission from CBC in 2006. He has been performed by Alain Trudel, Louise-Andrée Baril, Véronique Lacroix, Sylvio Gualda, the ECM+, New Music Concerts Society, l’Orchestre National de Lorraine (Acanthes 2005) and l’Orchestre Symphonique de Laval. In order to participate to Acanthes 2010 session, Charles-Antoine has received a travel grant from the Canada Arts Council and one from research center CIRMMT.
